Ontario’s Investment in Green Hydrogen Production

In February 2023, Ontario announced the launch of a Hydrogen Innovation Fund, committing $15 million over three years to support the integration of hydrogen into the province’s clean electricity system, including storage solutions. The Independent Electricity System Operator chose six projects as a part of this initiative. Emerald Energy from Waste is among the recipients awarded $2.9 million to establish a green hydrogen plant focused on green hydrogen production from waste. The project aims to evaluate the potential of green hydrogen production in supporting electricity grid services and fueling heavy-duty vehicles.
